Student Government Association 

The Student Government Association is the largest student organization on campus.  This organization acts as the primary student representative organization.  This organization gives students an opportunity to both learn and serve there fellow students.  Several of the university's most recognized alumni have served in this fine organization.   
 

Men's Federation 

The Men's Federation is an organization geared towards the development and service of the male population on the campus of Southern University and A&M College. Lead by a President and Vice President elected by the male students the organization is student fee funded.

 

The focus of the Men's Fed has always been to focus on the needs of the male populus and work with the men of SU to improve upon the enviornment in which the men live in as well as inform them of all they will need to be successful while in their college years. Focusing on activities and recreational events as well as academic and other quality programming Men's Federation has proven to be the leaders of the fellas at SU.

Association for Women Students

The Association for Women Students is an organization geared towards the empowerment and service of the women on the campus of Southern University and A&M College. Lead by a President and Vice President elected by the female population the organization is student fee funded.

 

The focus of the AWS has always been to engage and work with the women of SU to improve the needs of the female students as well as inform them of all they will need to be successful while in their college years. Through quality programming and self service tips such as beauty, health awareness, and fun engaging activities the AWS has proven to be the leaders of the ladies at SU. 

Miss Southern University & Royal Court 

As a face of the university and figure that upholds beauty, talent, intelligence, and poise, Miss Southern University reigns as the queen of the institution. Elected by the student body, Miss Southern serves as a leader and a role model to students and youth alike. Coronated during the week of Homecoming, Miss Southern is the bearer of the crown of her choice and leads a ten member Royal Court.

 

The Royal Court is a tradition that dates back to early Southern University history that entails five queens and escorts who will epitomize style, etiquette, and charm. The court consist of Miss SUBR, Miss Senior, Miss Junior, Miss Sophomore, Miss Freshman, and escorts for each which will in most cases be the presidents of their respective classes if a male is elected. Miss SU will be escorted by the SGA President if male.
